Final VT Nuclear Decommissioning Citizens Advisory Panel Meeting of 2024 Scheduled for December 9th
Brattleboro, VT – The Vermont Nuclear Decommissioning Citizens Advisory Panel (VT-NDCAP) will convene its last regular meeting of 2024 on Monday, December 9, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. This session will focus on updates from NorthStar and Vermont state agencies concerning the ongoing decommissioning of the Vermont Yankee (VY) nuclear power plant. Additionally, the Panel is set to review and approve its Annual Report to the Vermont Legislature and Governor, along with holding elections for 2025 officers.

The meeting will be available primarily via webcast and teleconference, with an option for in-person attendance at the Windham Regional Commission Conference Room, located at 139 Main Street, Brattleboro. Due to potential inclement weather, the meeting will switch entirely to online format if local schools close. Participants can access the meeting through the provided Zoom link and are encouraged to download materials beforehand for better accessibility.

The complete agenda can be found at the Vermont Public Service website, while all anticipated presentations will be accessible on the VT NDCAP site five days prior to the meeting. The Panel invites questions or comments, which will become public records, via email.

The meeting is open to the public and will be recorded for later viewing, emphasizing transparency in the decommissioning process. For more information or assistance, individuals may contact Tony Leshinskie, Vermont’s State Nuclear Engineer, via email or phone. The public is encouraged to participate in these critical discussions as Vermont continues its path towards safe nuclear decommissioning.
