Vermont’s Equinox Wind Quintet is set to make their debut performance at the UVM Recital Hall on Sunday, April 6th. The program will feature a range of music from composers spanning from 1898 to 1953, showcasing the versatility of a wind quintet. The quintet members include flutist Laurel Ann Maurer, oboist Elise Conti, clarinetist Betsy LeBlanc, bassoonist Molly Finkel, and hornist Sel Yargici.
The Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s Jukebox string quartet will be performing rock ‘n’ roll-inspired concerts infused with classical favorites at various locations throughout April. The quartet will be playing hits from bands like Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, and classical pieces by Shostakovich and Mendelssohn.
Scottish pianist Steven Osborne, OBE, will be returning to Middlebury’s Performing Arts Series on Friday, April 4th. Osborne’s program will showcase classical works by Debussy and Schumann, as well as contemporary pieces by composers like Meredith Monk and Frederic Rzewski.
The 2025 Farmers Night series in Montpelier will kick off with The Laureates Three, featuring distinguished poets laureate from Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. The event will take place at the State House on Wednesday, April 2nd.
In Ludlow, three powerhouse bands, including Allegra and the DayDreamers, Unqualified, and Sammy B, will be performing at Ludlow’s Town Hall on Saturday, April 5th. Admission is free, and donations are appreciated.
Lastly, Middlebury College will be presenting “The Virtuous Fall from Our Lady of Sorrows” by Gina Femia for three performances only on campus. The play explores the moral complexities faced by students at a Catholic girls’ school in Brooklyn while they work on an adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Measure for Measure.”
