Eugene “Big U” Henley Jr., a reputed Los Angeles gang leader, disguised himself as a community activist but was actually running a well-organized criminal organization. Henley is still at large and will face charges of extortion, human trafficking, fraud, and murder. Two of his associates, Sylvester “Vey” Robinson and Mark “Bear Claw” Martin, have been arrested. Ten members and associates of the Rollin’ 60s gang have been charged with various federal crimes. Henley allegedly shot and killed an aspiring rapper who dissed him in a track in January 2021.
Henley used his connections to intimidate businesses and individuals in L.A., while pretending to be interested in peace-building efforts in South L.A. Authorities say he used charitable activities as a front for criminal activity, deceiving the County of Los Angeles. FBI Special Agent Tyler Hatcher described Henley’s crimes as ranging from extortion to tax evasion, all orchestrated under the umbrella of his criminal organization. Henley was accused of using his charitable organization to promote anti-gang solutions while continuing criminal activities that contradicted his charity’s mission.
This is a developing story with updates expected.
