Stowe Businesses Benefit from Recent Fresh Snowfall

STOWE, Vt. — Winter Revives Local Economy Amid Fresh Snowfall

As winter fully sets in, businesses in Stowe are experiencing a revitalization, fueled by recent snowfall and an influx of visitors eager to enjoy outdoor activities. The snow is a boon for local establishments, which thrive on the ski season’s popularity.

Andrew Tascarella, manager of Shaw’s General Store, highlighted the snow’s significance, stating, "It’s a big benefit… having that industry here and having the skiers come." Earlier dry weather had challenged businesses, but the snow has created a notable boost in foot traffic, particularly during holiday weekends and the upcoming Presidents’ Week.

Nearby on Mountain Road, Ranch Camp, a bike shop and restaurant, is equally optimistic. Co-owner Evan Chismark noted the smooth transition from biking to fat biking, enhancing their offerings as the season shifts. "The lack of skiing sometimes means that much more biking… We switched over immediately into riding fat bikes, which has been awesome," he explained.

For visitors like Nate and Gillian Wigton Bell from Burlington, the fresh snow transforms a day on the mountain into a full-spectrum winter adventure, from skiing and snowboarding to dining and exploring trails. They expressed enthusiasm for the season, stating, "It’s just a fun day, nice to be back out and see all the locals on the mountain," emphasizing the benefits that come with consistent snowfall.

Chismark noted that Stowe offers diverse activities to cater to all tastes, whether for avid skiers or those seeking alternative winter fun. "If you don’t want to go to the mountain, there are a million other things to do," he said, underscoring the town’s commitment to providing a rich winter experience for everyone.
