Community Mourns the Loss of John William Alexander

SOUTH LONDONDERRY, Vt. โ€“ The community is grieving the loss of John William Alexander, who passed away peacefully on November 23 at the age of 58. A cherished father, grandfather, and friend, Johnโ€™s impact on those around him will be felt deeply.

Born on May 26, 1966, John grew up in South Londonderry, where he cultivated a lifelong love of the outdoors. His formative years were spent hiking, fishing, and camping, experiences that shaped his connection to nature. A proud Eagle Scout, he later served four years in the Army as a tank mechanic before returning to Vermont.

John’s expertise and passion for the natural world inspired many. His laughter, wit, and generous spirit created lasting memories for friends and family. He is survived by his son Justin, daughter-in-law Leanne, and grandchildren Jack and Quinn, who will treasure his wisdom and playful nature.

John’s legacy is enriched by the vibrant stories shared by loved ones, reflecting his joy in simple pleasures and his strength drawn from the earth. He is preceded in death by his wife Deanna, mother Lois, and father Roger.

The family invites the community to a Celebration of Johnโ€™s Life on December 15 from 1-5 p.m. at the American Legion in Chester. A private graveside service is planned for spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Johnโ€™s memory to the Green Mountain Conservation Camp. Contributions can be mailed to the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department with John’s name noted in the memo.

John William Alexander will be dearly missed, but his spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
