A recent study conducted by the Simmrin Law Group has named Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Maine among the safest states in the country. Massachusetts ranked eighth on the list, with low rates of various crimes such as homicide, assault, and theft. New Jersey took the top spot as the safest state in America, followed by Vermont and Maine in second and third place, respectively. Other New England states such as Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Hampshire also made the list of safest states.
On the other end of the spectrum, New Mexico was ranked as the most dangerous state in America, with high rates of kidnapping, vandalism, and sex offenses.
