Three rescue animals, two dogs and a cat, have been dubbed the real-life version of the Homeward Bound trio by an animal shelter in Vermont. The Central Vermont Humane Society found the trio wandering the streets together and quickly realized they were closely bonded. The animals, named River, Rain, and Reed, received veterinary care to address minor health issues before being brought to the shelter. Reed, the black cat, struggled with being separated from his friends until they were reunited in the shelter and he lit up with happiness, according to the shelter’s Facebook post.
News of the trio went viral on social media, and a couple contacted the shelter expressing interest in adopting all three pets. On March 28, River, Rain, and Reed moved into their forever home and are currently in a foster-to-adopt trial period. The shelter expressed hope that someone would have a big enough heart and home to take in this unique trio.
Erika Holm, the co-executive director of the Central Vermont Humane Society, highlighted the rarity of seeing dogs and cats not only together but also so lovingly bonded. The heartwarming story of this trio has captured the hearts of many, and their successful adoption is a testament to the power of social media in connecting animals with their forever families.
