Giants ink 1-year contract with veteran quarterback Russell Wilson

The New York Giants have signed quarterback Russell Wilson to a one-year contract worth $10.5 million guaranteed with potential to earn $21 million. Wilson played for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, completing 63.7% of his passes for 2,482 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions. The Giants will be Wilson’s third team in three seasons, previously playing for the Denver Broncos. New York released former first-round pick Daniel Jones last November, and currently has Tommy DeVito and Jameis Winston as other quarterbacks on their roster. Wilson’s performance has declined in recent years, with fewer touchdown passes and lower passer ratings since 2021. He signed with the Steelers last offseason after the Broncos incurred a large salary-cap penalty to release him. Wilson led the Steelers to a 6-5 record in his 11 starts last season. He has thrown for 350 touchdowns and 46,135 yards in his career, and is a 10-time Pro Bowler who helped the Seahawks win Super Bowl 48. The Giants, who finished 3-14 last season, will have the third overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
