Vermont principal earns top marks


Jason Di Giulio, principal of Hazen Union School in Hardwick, has been named the 2025 Vermont High School Principal of the Year. Di Giulio, who has a background in military leadership and creative arts, brings an innovative approach to education. He will be honored by the Vermont Principals’ Association at an awards banquet in August, along with other top-performing principals in the state. The annual award from the National Association of Secondary Schools will also be presented in Seattle in July.

Other outstanding school leaders being recognized in Vermont this year include Bobby Riley of Eagle Bay Academy, Sarah Welch of Danville Elementary School, Erik Remmers of Green Mountain Technology & Career Center, and John Craig of South Burlington High School. These principals have all demonstrated exceptional leadership in their schools and communities.

Di Giulio’s recognition as Principal of the Year highlights the dedication and hard work he has put into creating a positive and successful learning environment at Hazen Union School. His commitment to innovative and effective educational practices has made a significant impact on the students and staff at his school.
