Champlain Valley Union has claimed the top spot in the final 2024 High School Football America Vermont Top 5 rankings after winning their second Division I title in three years. The Redhawks finished the season with a perfect 11-0 record, defeating No. 2 Rutland 41-14 in the state championship game. Middlebury, Hartford, and Essex round out the top five rankings.
In addition to Champlain Valley Union’s success, Fair Haven Union and Woodstock also secured state championships in Division II and Division III, respectively.
The rankings are developed using a proprietary algorithm and are updated weekly throughout the season. Champlain Valley Union’s dominant season earned them the top ranking in Week 10, with Rutland holding onto the No. 2 spot. Middlebury, Hartford, and Essex retained their positions from the previous week in the top five.
It was a competitive season for high school football in Vermont, with teams battling it out on the field to earn their rankings.
