Catamounts Prepare to Take on Second-Seeded NC State in NCAA First Round

The University of Vermont women’s basketball team is set to face NC State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, March 22. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN, with a pregame event scheduled at Sammy’s Tap & Grill for Catamount fans in North Carolina. Meanwhile, local watch parties will be held in Burlington for those unable to attend the game in Raleigh.

Vermont earned their spot in the tournament by winning the America East Championship, led by standout performances from Nikola Priede and Anna Olson. The Catamounts will be looking to build on their success as they face the Wolfpack for the second time in program history.

NC State comes into the game as a formidable opponent, having recently won six of their last seven games and boasting top players such as Aziah James and Zoe Brooks. The Wolfpack’s fast-paced style of play and strong home record will be key factors to watch.

The Catamounts have a history of success in the NCAA Tournament, with their lone win coming against Wisconsin in 2010. As the only team in America East to host an NCAA Tournament game, Vermont will look to make their mark in this year’s competition.
