The Vermont Senate has passed a bill that requires all campaign ads to disclose the use of artificial intelligence. The decision was influenced by a robocall incident during the New Hampshire presidential primary last year, where a call was manipulated to appear as if it came from Joe Biden. The bill applies to ads produced within 90 days of an election and has been amended to include all ballot items on Election Day. Sen. Brian Collamore explained that while the bill mandates disclosure of AI use, a total ban on AI was deemed impractical due to concerns about freedom of speech. The measure will now move to the House for further consideration.
