Vergennes PEL Study Concludes with Final Open House
The Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) has completed the Vergennes Planning and Environment Linkages (PEL) Study in partnership with the Addison County Regional Planning Commission (ACRPC). The study aimed to reduce the impact of large truck traffic on Vermont Route 22A and Downtown Vergennes to improve the quality of life and economic vitality in the area.
Three transportation alternatives have been recommended for future evaluation: the Pink Alternative, a new road; the Blue Alternative, a different new road; and the Purple Alternative, upgrades to existing roadways. These recommendations were based on feedback from past studies, public input, analysis, and input from various committees.
A final in-person open house will be held on April 2, 2025, at the American Legion in Vergennes for the public to learn more about the recommended alternatives. Requests for accommodations should be made at least six business days before the event.
The purpose of the open house is to share the Policy Committee’s recommendation with the public and provide information on the study process and recommendations. For more information and updates on the Vergennes PEL Study, visit https://vergennespel.com/.
