The Vermont Department of Liquor and Lottery reported that over $21.5 million was wagered on sports in February, with over 670,000 bets being placed by players. Out-of-state bettors played a significant role in contributing to the state’s total handle, accounting for over $8.4 million in wagers. Basketball was the most popular sport among Vermont bettors, bringing in $7.6 million in wagers, followed by soccer and tennis. Operators reported $2.2 million in adjusted gross sports wagering income for the month, while Vermont players took home a total of $19.1 million in prizes.
Vermont’s regulated sports betting market has attracted visitors from neighboring states, leading to a boost in the state’s betting numbers. Since the repeal of PASPA in 2018, 38 states have launched legal sports betting markets, with Vermont seeing growing participation. With consistent monthly reports and significant contributions from out-of-state visitors, Vermont’s sports wagering market shows strong potential for continued growth.
