Increase in sports bets in Vermont, US during February despite revenue decline


Mobile sports betting revenue in Vermont, US, experienced a 5.4% decrease year-on-year in February, according to the Vermont Lottery. The revenue for the month was reported at $2.18 million, lower than the $2.3 million recorded in February 2024. This decrease comes after the first full month of mobile wagering was launched in mid-January of the previous year.

The sports betting handle in Vermont for February was $21.5 million, showing a 1.3% increase from the previous year but a 9.8% decrease from January. The Vermont tax share for February was $693,284, marking a 5.3% decrease year-on-year and a 14% decrease from the previous month.

Among the sports that attracted the most wagers in Vermont in February, basketball led the way with $7.64 million of the total handle for the month. Bettors registered in the state accounted for $13.1 million of the total handle, while those coming into Vermont contributed $8.4 million.

Despite the slight drop in revenue, the sports betting industry in Vermont continues to see significant interest and activity. Experts are optimistic that with continuous innovation and engagement strategies, the sector can thrive in the coming months.
