Women’s Basketball Claims America East Championship by Beating UAlbany 62-55


The Vermont Catamounts claimed their eighth America East Championship in program history by defeating the UAlbany Great Danes 62-55. The victory secured Vermont’s spot in the 2025 NCAA March Madness Tournament. Head Coach Alisa Kresge praised her team for their hard work and resilience throughout the season. Nikola Priede led the Catamounts with 20 points and was named Most Outstanding Player of the Jersey Mike’s America East Playoffs. Catherine Gilwee and Anna Olson also contributed to the win with 12 and 11 points respectively.

Vermont shot 75.0% from the free-throw line and outrebounded UAlbany 26-23. They also recorded seven steals compared to the Great Danes’ three. This victory extends Vermont’s win streak to six games. The Catamounts, as the two-seed, now have a 3-2 record in America East Championship games.

The Catamounts’ next challenge will be the NCAA Tournament, with the selection show scheduled for March 16th on ESPN. Vermont will await their seed and matchup as they prepare to compete in the first and second rounds from March 21-24.
