Kelsie Hogue, also known as Sir Babygirl, is set to debut her new production titled “How to Stay Sane While Losing Your Mind” at the Briggs Opera House in White River Junction. Inspired by her own struggles, the show combines elements of a play and a rock concert, exploring the myth of Persephone and the theme of agency.
Hogue, a Hanover High School graduate, found herself in a dark place during the pandemic after the release of her debut album “Crush on Me.” Her journey of self-discovery and healing is reflected in the show, where she plays the character of Persephone, navigating her return to the world after a period of trauma and lockdown.
With a talented team of queer musicians by her side, Hogue is bringing her vision to life, drawing inspiration from various myths and performance art. The DIY feel of the show, supported by the local community, adds a personal touch to the production.
After the debut in White River Junction, Hogue hopes to take the show on tour, showcasing her resilience and creativity in the face of challenges. With no industry support, she relies on her own impulse and determination to make her mark in the music industry. The community support and collaboration have been instrumental in bringing her vision to the stage, reminding Hogue of her roots in the Upper Valley.
