The 2025 NCAA Skiing Championships kicked off with the Nordic competition at Oak Hill, where Annie McColgan and Finn Sweet of the University of Vermont both earned Second Place finishes in the 7.5K Classic Individual Start, securing First Team All-American honors. McColgan continued her successful season with a time of 23:54.4, while Sweet raced to a time of 21:08.1. UVM currently sits in fourth place overall with 208 points, with host school Dartmouth leading the pack with 267.5 points.
McColgan’s second-place finish contributed to UVM’s total of 66 team points for the day, the third-highest in the field. Sweet’s silver medal also helped UVM’s standings, with Petter Bakken and Luke Rizio also earning points for the team. The Alpine portion of the Championships is set to conclude the following day with the men’s and women’s giant slalom at The Skiway in Etna, NH.
The action-packed competition will be livestreamed on NCAA.com, with the women’s first run scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and the men’s first run following at 10:25 a.m. The University of Vermont’s skiing program is proudly sponsored by Spyder.
