A tragic house fire in Campton, New Hampshire, resulted in the death of a man and his two dogs early Saturday morning. Campton-Thornton Fire Rescue responded to the scene on Ellsworth Hill Road around midnight and faced challenging conditions including intense wind, freezing temperatures, and a snow squall. Despite the efforts of surrounding firefighters to control the flames, the deteriorating structure of the building forced crews to withdraw initially. After gaining control of the fire by 2 a.m., the man’s body was discovered inside the home. Local authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, and the victim is being transported for an autopsy. The incident did not result in life-threatening injuries to two students hurt in a separate crash, although the loss of life in the house fire has left the community in mourning. This tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety and prevention measures to avoid such devastating outcomes in the future. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who lost his life in this unfortunate incident.
