A tragic accident on Interstate 91 in Vermont left one person dead and three others injured after their SUV crashed into a fuel tanker truck. The crash occurred at 9:43 a.m. in Rockingham, with the Hyundai Ioniq rear-ending the tanker truck. One occupant died at the scene, while a juvenile was airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Another juvenile and an adult were taken to a hospital by ambulance and are expected to survive. The driver of the tanker truck was unharmed. The slick road conditions at the time of the crash contributed to more than 10 vehicles being involved in total. Although several minor unrelated crashes and slide-offs occurred in the same area, no other injuries were reported. The northbound lanes of I-91 were temporarily closed following the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and state police believe the Hyundai was unable to stop due to the icy conditions. This tragic accident serves as a reminder to drive cautiously and attentively during inclement weather to prevent further injuries and loss of life on the roads.
