Local college skiers Benny Brown from Dartmouth and Hanna Larsson Nathhorst from UVM made a strong showing in the NCAA Giant Slalom at the Dartmouth Skiway. Larsson Nathhorst finished 3rd after a strong second run, while Brown finished 2nd with the best second-run time of the day. Larsson Nathhorst expressed her excitement and satisfaction with her performance, calling it a dream come true. On the men’s side, Johs Herland of Utah took the victory, with Daniel Gillis from Dartmouth earning 2nd Team All-American Honors in sixth place.
Despite some setbacks for Dartmouth skiers, including a wipeout that dropped first-run leader Oscar Zimmer to 30th, the team is still in contention for a podium finish in the team standings. Utah currently leads with 417 points, followed by Colorado with 382 and Dartmouth in third with 380 points.
The NCAA Skiing Championships will wrap up with the 20K Freestyle Mass Starts at Oak Hill Outdoor Center on Saturday. Skiers from all teams are looking forward to the final day of competition and are determined to give their best performances to secure a strong finish in the championships.
