The Vermont Catamounts emerged victorious against the Miami (OH) RedHawks with a final score of 75-67 in a thrilling game at Patrick Gymnasium. TJ Hurley and Nick Fiorillo led the charge with a combined 41 points, securing the win for the Catamounts and improving their overall record to 6-7. The game was part of the team’s annual Military Appreciation Night, presented by Milton Cat.
Hurley started the scoring early in the game, giving Vermont an initial lead. Fiorillo’s three-pointer helped the Catamounts regain the lead in the first half, where they maintained control and ended with a 40-28 lead at halftime. Despite a strong effort from Miami (OH) in the second half, Vermont held on to their lead and sealed the victory with a score of 75-67.
Fiorillo scored a team-high 21 points, while Hurley contributed 20 points, along with other impressive performances from players like Shamir Bogues and Ileri Ayo-Faleye. The Catamounts’ strong defensive effort limited the RedHawks to one made three-pointer out of 15 attempts.
With this win, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to the Vermont Children’s Trust Foundation as part of the Cats Win, Community Wins initiative. The team will now gear up to face Dartmouth on the road for more non-conference action on Saturday, December 21.
