Vermont author Chris Bohjalian is celebrating the release of his 25th novel, “The Jackal’s Mistress,” a historical fiction set during the Civil War. Inspired by a true story, the book follows a dying Union soldier from Vermont saved by a Southern woman married to a Confederate soldier, in a Civil War-era Romeo and Juliet story. Bohjalian is kicking off his book tour with events in Vermont this weekend, including a conversation with historian Garrett Graff at Phoenix Books and a discussion with journalist Mikaela Lefrak at the Town Hall Theater in Middlebury. With the release on March 11, the author is looking forward to engaging with readers and hopes for packed events at both locations. Additional appearances are scheduled at the Northshire Bookstore in Manchester Center on June 4. Fans can also catch Bohjalian on an episode of NBC5 In Depth in late March to delve deeper into his 25th book and reflect on his writing career. With a successful track record of 25 books and 35 book tours, Bohjalian’s latest work is sure to captivate readers with its intriguing historical narrative.
