Fairfield defeats Catamounts in close game


The Vermont Women’s Lacrosse team suffered a 14-10 loss to Fairfield in a game played at Rafferty Stadium in Fairfield, CT. Caitlin Haggerty led the Catamounts with three goals in the losing effort. Head coach Sarah Dalton Graddock expressed frustration over the loss, emphasizing the need for consistency and learning from the defeat.

The game saw Vermont taking an early lead with Emily Cutler scoring her first collegiate goal. However, Fairfield responded with three straight goals to end the first quarter. The Catamounts fought back throughout the game, with Haggerty scoring two goals in the second half to tie the game at different points. Despite their efforts, Fairfield pulled ahead with a series of goals in the second half, ultimately securing the victory.

In terms of individual performances, Haggerty led the team with three goals, while Claire Adelhelm contributed two assists. Lydia Doraz stood out with nine draw controls, and Emily Cutler also impressed with her first collegiate goal.
