Vermont’s Ileri Ayo-Faleye Scores Career-Best 27 Points to Lead Team to Victory Over NJIT

The University of Vermont Catamounts secured a 68-64 victory over the NJIT Highlanders in an intense game at Patrick Gym on Thursday night. Ileri Ayo-Faleye shined with a career-high 27 points and 9 rebounds, while Shamir Bogues recorded his first double-double of his career with 14 points and 11 rebounds for UVM. Head Coach shared his thoughts on the team’s performance, highlighting their defensive effort and resilience in the absence of key player TJ Hurley.

The game saw a strong start from the Catamounts, with key contributions from Jace Roquemore, Sean Blake, and Seth Joba. Despite NJIT’s comeback attempts, Vermont maintained their lead throughout the second half with Ayo-Faleye’s impressive shooting and crucial free throws down the stretch. The Catamounts capitalized on turnovers and defensive stops to secure the win.

In addition to Ayo-Faleye and Bogues’ standout performances, Sean Blake, Sam Alamutu, and Nick Fiorillo made significant contributions to the team’s success. With this victory, Vermont Mutual Insurance will be donating $100 to the Lund Center, a gesture appreciated by the community. The Catamounts will look to build on this win as they prepare to face UMBC on Saturday, January 26th. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Varsity Network App, showcasing another exciting matchup for UVM fans to enjoy.
