Official says Delta plane flipped on Toronto runway in extreme snowfall despite clear weather

Following days of heavy snowfall, a Delta plane carrying 80 people crash-landed and flipped upside down at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The incident occurred on a clear day after the airport had been working to recover from canceled flights due to the snowstorms. The plane burst into flames upon landing, leaving passengers and crew dangling from their seat belts. Fortunately, there were no fatalities and most of the injured have been released from the hospital.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, and officials are urging against speculation. The runway conditions were reported to be dry with no crosswind conditions at the time of the crash. The incident comes after two recent deadly aircraft crashes in the U.S., raising concerns about air travel safety.

In Philadelphia, seven people were killed when an air ambulance crashed near a mall on January 31st, while a midair collision between an Army helicopter and a commercial airplane near Washington, D.C. resulted in the deaths of all 67 passengers on board. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating both cases and has not yet determined the official cause of the crashes. The incident at Toronto Pearson International Airport adds to the recent string of tragedies in the aviation industry, prompting questions about the safety of air travel.
