The latest impact report from the Vermont Working Lands Enterprise Initiative (WLEI) showcases the program’s success in supporting agriculture and forestry businesses in the state. Since 2012, WLEI has invested $18.8 million in 555 projects, leveraging an additional $30.9 million in matching funds. These investments have played a crucial role in Vermont’s rural economy, helping businesses grow and thrive.
To celebrate these achievements, the WLEI Board has released a comprehensive Impact Report detailing the outcomes of the program over the past 12 years. The report highlights the positive impacts on farm, food, and forest businesses across Vermont.
In addition to the WLEI report, the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets is seeking feedback from the community to better serve Vermont’s agricultural industry. A short survey is available for individuals involved in the state’s food system to provide input on the type of information they would like to receive and how the agency can improve communication.
Furthermore, dairy industry professionals can participate in a monthly webinar series focusing on current research and programs in the dairy sector. The sessions cover a range of topics, including the Low Carbon Dairy Program and Virtual Fencing.
The Vermont Legislature is also discussing key agricultural issues, such as avian influenza and agritourism, and individuals can stay informed by visiting the legislature’s website or watching updates on the Vermont Senate and House Agriculture Committees’ YouTube channels.
Lastly, Vermont specialty foods businesses are invited to join the Vermont Pavilion at the 2025 Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City. This event provides an opportunity for businesses to showcase their products to buyers and distributors from around the world. Booth reservations are now open for interested participants.
