Greenfield crash results in Vermont man’s sentencing

A man from Vermont, Javery Hattat, has been sentenced to four and a half years in jail for his involvement in a crash in Greenfield, Massachusetts in 2023. The crash seriously injured Stephen and Stephanie Sojkowski and their two children as they were returning home from skiing at Berkshire East. Hattat swerved into the oncoming lane on Route 2, crashing head-on into the family’s SUV.

All four family members were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Hattat will also serve three years of probation after his jail sentence. The incident has brought attention to the dangers of reckless driving and the serious consequences that can result from it.

The Western Mass News (WGGB/WSHM) reported on the sentencing, highlighting the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions on the road. The community is reminded to prioritize safety when behind the wheel and to always be aware of the potential risks of reckless driving.

The Sojkowski family continues to recover from their injuries, and this case serves as a reminder of the lasting impact that a single moment of negligence can have on the lives of others. The hope is that this incident will serve as a cautionary tale for drivers to prioritize safety and responsibility on the road.
