The National Archives played a key role in the criminal case against Trump, alerting the Justice Department that he had potentially mishandled classified documents. Trump eventually returned some records but kept others, leading to a criminal investigation and subsequent dismissal of charges due to a technicality. Since taking office, the Trump administration has dismissed several officials involved in investigations against the president. Two groups of FBI agents who participated in these investigations are suing the DOJ for allegedly using a survey to target them for dismissal.
