I replicated outrageous celebrity red carpet outfits using everyday items for a size 16 figure – if Ariana Grande can pull it off, so can I

A mother-of-two from West Yorkshire decided to take a stand against the lack of plus-size representation on the red carpet by recreating outlandish celebrity looks as part of a DIY project. Danielle Broadbent, 41, was tired of seeing only skinny celebrities donning iconic outfits at events like the Met Gala and Paris Fashion Week. With the support of her partner, she created a calendar featuring herself in hilarious versions of star-studded looks using everyday items she found around her house. Despite her own struggles with body confidence due to a thyroid condition, Danielle felt empowered and beautiful during the photoshoot.

While the designer outfits worn by celebrities cost a fortune, Danielle’s DIY recreations came to just £200. She received positive feedback from friends and family, who appreciated the calendar’s message of body positivity. Proceeds from the calendar will be donated to MIND, a mental health charity. Danielle hopes her project will inspire others to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin, regardless of their size. She emphasized the importance of self-acceptance, energy, and kindness, shifting the conversation to focus on body positivity and mental well-being. Through her bold and fun project, Danielle aims to show that confidence is the sexiest thing a person can wear, and true beauty is found in self-love and acceptance.
