Rutland Regional Medical Center (RRMC) recently unveiled a new Mamava Lactation Pod, providing a dedicated nursing space for visitors and staff. The pod, located near the Allen Street entrance, offers a comfortable and private option for breastfeeding or pumping, featuring easy-to-clean surfaces and conveniently placed outlets. The installation of the pod was a collaborative effort, with support from RRMC leadership, human resources, nursing, and clinical operations.
Dr. Sarah Decker, Medical Director of Rutland Women’s Healthcare clinic, expressed pride in supporting breastfeeding through the Mamava Lactation Pod, reflecting the dedication of RRMC to providing exceptional care to birthing parents in the Rutland region. The pod’s exterior was designed with calming elements like green mountains and blue skies, while the interior features soft clouds and sky decorations. The pod was installed by RRMC’s Engineering and Maintenance team and adorned with graphics by the Marketing & Public Relations Department.
The addition of the Mamava Pod aligns with RRMC’s recognition as a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care and a High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care by U.S. News & World Report. As a B Corp, Mamava manufactures lactation pods in Vermont and offers a corresponding app to connect breastfeeding parents with lactation spaces.
Rutland Women’s Healthcare provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecological services, supported by a team of medical providers including OB/GYN physicians and certified nurse midwives. The Women’s & Children’s Unit and Birthing Center at RRMC offers expert care for laboring patients and newborns, with private rooms and a commitment to safe sleep practices.
