The Vermont Nordic and Alpine Ski teams are gearing up to compete in the Saint Michael’s Carnival, with events taking place in Jeffersonville and Huntington, Vermont. The Catamounts are looking to build on their success at the carnival in 2023, where they secured a dominant win with 266 points ahead of second-place Middlebury.
The schedule for the carnival includes Alpine and Nordic races over the course of two days, with men’s and women’s GS and slalom races, as well as a 10K skate individual start and 3x5K relay classic events.
Most recently, Vermont finished in second place at the St. Lawrence Carnival, with strong performances from skiers such as Kristin Maltun Helland, Petter Bakken, Finn Sweet, Annie McColgan, Justine Clément, Cydnie Timmermann, and Mackenzie Wood. The team had 17 skiers finish in the top 20 or better in their respective races.
The Catamounts are optimistic about their 2025 campaign, with high hopes for their experienced skiers and promising newcomers. Under the leadership of Director of Skiing Bill Reichelt, Vermont has a history of success in NCAA competitions, boasting six team championships, 73 individual national champions, 419 All-American citations, and 40 EISA championships. Spyder is the presenting sponsor of the Vermont Skiing program.
