Police arrest nine individuals in Bethel during drug raid


A drug raid in Bethel, Vermont led to the arrest of nine individuals on Thursday night. The raid, conducted by multiple agencies including Vermont State Police and the Vermont Drug Task Force, was the result of an investigation into cocaine and fentanyl trafficking in Chittenden, Washington, and Windsor counties. Law enforcement officials found over a kilogram of cocaine and fentanyl, as well as illegal firearms including a “ghost gun”, two sawed-off shotguns, multiple long guns, a grenade launcher, and three pistols with extended magazines at the residence on Gage Road. Several animals were also found living in unsanitary conditions and had to be taken to a nearby animal hospital.

The nine individuals arrested are facing charges including drug trafficking, conspiracy, and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. They have been identified as Richard Boles, India Tweedie, Andrea Veroneau, Moses Gardner, Tyler Taitague, Matthew Gilbert, Anthony Gunn, LaQuonne Thames Sr., and LaQuonne Thames Jr. All nine are currently being held at the Southern State Correctional Facility.

The drug raid and subsequent arrests are a significant development in the fight against drug trafficking and illegal firearms in the region.
