Authorities in Delaware County, Pennsylvania have linked the double murder of Richard and Rita Zajko to the fatal shooting of Border Patrol Agent David “Chris” Maland in Vermont. The Zajkos were shot and killed inside their home on New Year’s Eve 2022, while Maland was killed in the line of duty near a Canadian border crossing on January 25. The investigation revealed that a car connected to the Vermont shooting was occupied by Teresa Youngblut and Felix Baukholt, with Baukholt being killed during a clash with federal agents. Youngblut was arrested in connection to the incident. It was discovered that the firearm used in Maland’s shooting was obtained by a person of interest in the Zajko murders. Despite these developments, there have been no arrests made in the Zajko case.
