Multiple individuals were hospitalized Tuesday evening following a crash involving five vehicles, including a firetruck, in Georgia, Vermont. The incident began with a two-car crash on i-89 just before 5:00 p.m. Emergency responders from the St. Albans fire department were called to the scene, but another crash occurred when a car collided with the firetruck.
Injuries from both crashes resulted in those involved being transported to Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans for treatment. The southbound lanes of the interstate had to be closed for an hour and a half to clear the scene and investigate the incidents.
The Vermont State Police are currently investigating the cause of the crashes and working to determine the extent of injuries suffered by those involved. The exact number of individuals injured and the severity of their injuries have not been disclosed at this time.
Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and abide by traffic laws to prevent similar accidents in the future. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving practices and maintaining awareness on the road.
