A man accused of murder in California has been linked to a woman charged in the fatal shooting of a U.S. Border Patrol agent in Vermont. Maximilian Snyder, 22, was arrested in connection with a homicide case in Vallejo, California, and appeared to have sought a marriage license with Teresa Youngblut, who is facing weapons charges related to the Border Patrol agent’s death. The two had taken out a marriage license in Washington state in November.
It is unclear how Snyder and Youngblut were connected to the Border Patrol agent’s death in Vermont, where they had been under surveillance for several days. They had been renting separate units in the same neighborhood in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, before heading to Vermont. Youngblut appeared in federal court in Burlington and was scheduled for a detention hearing.
Authorities in Vermont and California have not confirmed if Snyder is the person of interest in the California case. The investigation involves another individual, Curtis Lind, who was allegedly killed to prevent his testimony in a criminal proceeding. The case is ongoing and Snyder is set to appear in court in Solano County.
The connection between Snyder, Youngblut, and the Border Patrol agent’s death remains unclear, but authorities are continuing to investigate. The owner of the rental property where Youngblut stayed in North Carolina described strange behavior from Bauckholt, another individual involved in the case, before their departure for Vermont. The investigation sheds light on a complex and mysterious series of events that have left many questions unanswered.
