Head Coach Wiedler Prepares for Second Season with Vermont Catamounts
Head Coach Wiedler is gearing up for his second season leading the Vermont Catamounts after being named Interim Head Coach in July 2023. Following a successful first year where the team posted a 13-19-3 record, Wiedler agreed to a four-year contract to remain at the helm. Under his guidance, the Catamounts saw their best offensive season since 2016-17, averaging 2.71 goals per game.
During his time at Vermont, Wiedler has worked with 10 NHL Draft picks, including a record-breaking six in the 2022-23 season. His coaching career began as an Assistant Coach at AIC, where he helped build championship-winning teams and developed a successful defense and penalty kill unit.
Wiedler’s coaching expertise was further highlighted during the World Junior Championships, where he won a bronze medal with the Norwegian team and led them to the tournament’s second-best penalty-killing performance. With a strong track record of success and a commitment to developing players, Wiedler is poised to lead the Catamounts to continued growth and success in the upcoming season.
