Women’s Hockey Snaps Losing Streak with 2-1 Victory Over Maine

[ad_1]
Vermont women’s hockey team secured a 2-1 victory over Maine on Saturday afternoon, with graduate student Grace Nelles scoring both goals. After splitting the weekend series with the Black Bears, the Catamounts earned three conference points. Head Coach Jim Plumer commended the team’s performance, emphasizing their toughness, smart play, and commitment to team defense. Nelles’ two goals marked her first multi-goal game as a Catamount, bringing her season total to three goals. Ashley Kokavec, with one assist against her former squad, contributed to Vermont’s victory. Jane Gervais made 16 saves in goal. The win triggered a $100 donation from Vermont Mutual Insurance Group to Vermont Children’s Trust Foundation as part of the Cats Win, Community Wins initiative.

Next up, Vermont will face Holy Cross at Gutterson Fieldhouse on November 9, with puck drop at 1 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+. Fans can follow @UVMwhockey on social media for updates. The Windjammer Inn and Conference Center is the presenting sponsor of UVM women’s hockey. The team looks forward to building on this win and continuing their strong performance in future games.
