The Tokyo government is planning to introduce a four-day workweek for its employees in order to support young families and address Japan’s low fertility rates. Governor Yuriko Koike announced that starting in April, employees will have the option to take three days off each week to better balance work and family responsibilities. This policy aims to encourage couples to have more children, as Japan’s fertility rate is currently at a record low of 1.2 children per woman.
