Winter Weather Advisory: Snow, Rain, and Possible Flooding Ahead
Temperatures are expected to plunge into the teens and 20s overnight, creating conditions for residual moisture to freeze on untreated surfaces. As we move into Monday, the day will start off dry, but by the afternoon, a new wave of snow coupled with a wintry mix is forecasted. Residents can expect some accumulation, with totals ranging from a dusting to a few inches, escalating into sleet and freezing rain as the night progresses.
Tuesday should bring a drier start, yet lingering areas of drizzle and light showers are anticipated, with highs reaching the mid to upper 30s. However, a significant weather shift is on the horizon Tuesday night into Wednesday, as widespread heavy rainfall is predicted, potentially leading to flooding in certain areas. Rainfall may total between 1 to 2 inches, compounded by the existing mountain snowpack, with highs near 40 degrees.
As colder air returns Wednesday night, the rain could transition into snowfall, resulting in lingering snow showers on Thursday, particularly in mountainous regions, with temperatures in the low 30s.
Looking ahead, the end of the week is expected to be calmer, with Friday’s highs in the upper 20s, gradually rising into the 30s and possibly touching 40 by the weekend. Some rain or snow showers could return on Sunday, but overall, conditions will be quieter.
