Killington Fire Department Contained Condo Fire

KILLINGTON, Vt. — On Saturday afternoon, Killington Fire and Rescue Services swiftly responded to a report of heavy smoke at the Trailside Condos. Emergency crews arrived just after 12:30 p.m., finding a unit engulfed in smoke. Their quick actions led them to a small fire located under a kitchen cabinet, which was promptly contained and extinguished.

The fire’s suppression efforts were further supported by the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department and the Rutland City Fire Department, who assisted with overhaul, ventilation, and mop-up operations. By approximately 2:00 p.m., Killington Fire personnel had cleared the scene, having ensured the situation was under control. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident, and the fire was confined to a small area.

Fire officials have indicated that the incident was caused by flammable objects placed too close to a heater. In light of this event, the Killington Fire Department emphasized the importance of keeping combustible materials away from heat sources to prevent such occurrences in the future.

This incident serves as a crucial reminder for residents and visitors in the area to be vigilant about fire safety in their homes, particularly regarding the placement of items around heating devices. The effective response by local fire departments contributed to minimizing damage and ensuring the safety of those in the vicinity.
