The highly popular BBC show, The Traitors, is set to launch a celebrity version in the upcoming year, featuring well-known celebrities such as Stephen Fry, Clare Balding, and Tom Daley. Despite the show’s success and anticipation, agents for reality TV stars have been persistent in trying to secure spots for their D-list clients on the show’s star-studded cast. However, the production team behind The Traitors is adamant about only including bona fide celebrities and household names, not from the reality TV circuit.
The show, which is filmed at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands and hosted by Claudia Winkleman, follows a gameplay where cast members are divided into Faithfuls and Traitors. The Traitors must conspire to eliminate the Faithfuls by ‘killing’ one each night without being identified to win a cash prize. The previous series attracted four million viewers per night, with a Traitor successfully walking away with the entire prize pot.
The celebrity edition of The Traitors was announced in the summer, with Ms. Winkleman actively involved in the casting decisions. The show’s US version, hosted by Alan Cumming, included a mix of reality TV show contestants and ordinary people, but the BBC has confirmed that the celebrity version will only feature genuine household names. The third series of The Traitors is set to launch early next year, with the celebrity edition expected to attract a significant amount of attention from fans and viewers.
