Vermont Chamber of Commerce Hosts Successful Manufacturing Summit Focused on Sustainability and Workforce Development

Montpelier, VT (December 6, 2024) – The Vermont Chamber of Commerce convened over 130 industry leaders during its annual Manufacturing Summit on November 13-14 at the revitalized Hotel Champlain in Burlington. This year’s event centered around the theme "Resilience by Design," focusing on innovative solutions to address the evolving challenges faced by the manufacturing sector.

Keynote speakers and panelists, including Dave Castle from Mechanical Advantage, Cindy Robillard from the Vermont Department of Labor, and OnLogic’s Jen O’Neill, engaged attendees on crucial topics such as workforce development, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and supply chain management. The summit tackled pressing issues and brainstormed strategies for building resilient supply chains and leveraging technology to enhance adaptability.

The highlight of the two-day event featured a Business-to-Business (B2B) Matchmaking Program, aimed at connecting manufacturers with potential partners and suppliers to foster collaboration and growth. Alison Conant from AK Consulting moderated a panel discussion focused on sustainable workforce development solutions tailored for manufacturers of all sizes.

“Since 2013, the Vermont Chamber has built a legacy of strengthening the manufacturing industry through policy and programs,” stated Amy Spear, President of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce. “This summit provided invaluable insights for manufacturers across the region and emphasized the importance of collaboration in a rapidly changing landscape.”

The event received robust support from key organizations including the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development, G.S. Precision, and GE Aerospace, among others. As planning for next year’s summit begins, the Chamber is committed to continuing its efforts to advance Vermont’s manufacturing sector and empower local businesses.
