More than 43% of Vermonters who received mail-in ballots have already voted in the 2024 general election, according to the Secretary of State’s Office. For those who still have their ballots, they can either vote at home and drop off the sealed and signed inner envelope at the polls on Election Day or bring the blank ballot and vote in person. If you have not received a ballot or have misplaced it, you can pick up a fresh one at your polling place.
If you are not a registered voter or need to update your registration, you can do so at the polls on Election Day. Monday, November 4, is the last day of early voting, so make sure to check with your municipal clerk for hours of operation to drop off your ballot.
Vermont has a law that requires a ballot to be mailed to all registered voters every two years for the general election. This year’s election will be the third in state history to be conducted with universal mail-in voting. The decision to allow mail-in voting was made permanent after record turnout in the 2020 election. Vermont is one of only eight states with universal mail-in voting.
Overall, Vermonters are encouraged to cast their vote either by mail or in person on Election Day, ensuring that their voices are heard in the democratic process.
