Sophia Drees, a standout player on the University of Vermont Field Hockey team, was recently honored by being named to the NFHCA Division 1 Senior Team. This recognition makes her the eighth Catamount player to receive this honor and the first since 2012. Drees’ impressive season included being named America East Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, and receiving academic honors. The Bremen, Germany native finished her final season with 22 points and broke the program record for career assists.
Head coach Kate Pfeifer praised Drees for her leadership and contributions to the team’s success, which included winning the America East Championship and qualifying for the NCAA tournament. Drees’ career stats of 22 goals and 30 assists have solidified her as a key player in Vermont field hockey history.
