Brown Men’s Basketball Extends Winning Streak with Victory Over Vermont
Burlington, Vt. – The Brown men’s basketball team secured its fourth consecutive victory, defeating Vermont 60-53 on Tuesday evening. This significant win not only halted Vermont’s impressive 14-game home winning streak but also marked their third home loss in four seasons.
Head Coach Mike Martin praised his team’s resilience and confidence, crediting their determination against a formidable Vermont squad. "This is a hard place to win; not a lot of people win here," he noted, highlighting the challenging environment the Bears faced.
The first half featured a competitive back-and-forth battle, with Brown managing a slight edge, leading by as much as five points. The Bears took a narrow 31-28 lead into halftime, anchored by solid performances from Kino Lilly Jr., Landon Lewis, and Aaron Cooley, who collectively scored 27 of the team’s points. Lewis was particularly impressive, leading all scorers with 10 points in the first half.
The Bears surged ahead in the second half, outscoring Vermont 16-7 in the first five minutes to establish a 12-point lead. Though Vermont responded with a strong 12-3 run to narrow the deficit to just two points, Brown maintained composure. With just over three minutes remaining, Lilly Jr. hit a crucial jump shot, extending the lead to 55-50, ultimately leading to a winning finish.
Landon Lewis recorded his second double-double of the season with a career-high 19 points, while Kino Lilly Jr. led all scorers with 23 points. The team’s defense proved pivotal, limiting Vermont to just six points in the final 8:13 of the game.
Looking ahead, Brown will face Bryant in Smithfield, R.I. on Friday, December 6, with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets in advance.
