Brown Men’s Basketball Team Continues Winning Streak with Victory Over Vermont

Burlington, Vt. – The Brown men’s basketball team achieved its fourth consecutive victory on Tuesday night, triumphing over Vermont with a score of 60-53. The Bears’ win snapped the Catamounts’ impressive 14-game home winning streak, and handed Vermont just its third home loss in the past four seasons.

"This is a hard place to win; not a lot of teams manage to do it," said Mike Martin, Head Men’s Basketball Coach. He praised his players for their confidence and resilience against a formidable opponent like Vermont, acknowledging that strong teams are likely to make runs during a game.

The match was tightly contested, with both teams exchanging leads in the first half, culminating in a narrow 31-28 advantage for Brown at halftime. Key contributions came from Kino Lilly Jr., Landon Lewis, and Aaron Cooley, who together scored 27 of Brown’s first-half points, with Lewis leading at 10 points. The Bears shot 3-8 from beyond the arc, limiting Vermont to just 2-9.

Brown extended its lead early in the second half, starting strong with a 16-7 run, pushing the score to 47-35. However, Vermont responded with a 12-3 surge, narrowing the gap to 49-47, showcasing the competitive nature of the game. In the final minutes, Lilly Jr. hit a critical jumper, solidifying Brown’s lead at 55-50. Remarkably, the Bears held Vermont to only six points in the last 8:13 of play.

Landon Lewis notably recorded his second double-double of the season, scoring a career-high 19 points, while Lilly Jr. finished as the game’s top scorer with 23 points. Next, Brown will face Bryant in Smithfield, R.I. on Friday, December 6, at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available for fans eager to support the Bears.
