Bucknell Women’s Basketball Set to Host Vermont on Education Day

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell Bison women’s basketball team (3-4) will aim to extend its three-game winning streak and maintain its perfect home record when they take on the Vermont Catamounts on Wednesday, December 4. The Bison celebrate their annual Education Day game, with a tip-off scheduled for 11 a.m. at Sojka Pavilion.

Bucknell recently captured its first road win of the season with a 65-54 victory over Robert Morris. Leading for over 37 minutes, the Bison showcased strong defensive play and efficient shooting, finishing the game with a remarkable 55.8% shooting accuracy. Star player Ashley Sofilkanich scored 20 points, earning her a spot as the Patriot League Player of the Week.

The Bison and Catamounts have faced off twice, with Bucknell winning both encounters by double digits. A win against Vermont would improve Bucknell’s season record to 4-4, secure their first home win of the year, and make them 3-0 all-time against the Catamounts.

Vermont, with a record of 4-5, is coming off a challenging schedule that included participation in the Great Alaskan Shootout and the Cancun Challenge, where they faced tough competition, including a victory over Missouri.

Under sixth-year head coach Trevor Woodruff, who boasts an impressive 87-56 overall record at Bucknell, the Bison are looking to build on their early-season momentum. The coaching staff has seen recent changes, including the promotion of Sherill Baker to associate head coach and the addition of three new faces to the coaching team.

As the Bison prepare to face the Catamounts, anticipation builds for an exciting Education Day matchup in Lewisburg.
