X to tag fake profiles mimicking famous personalities to tackle identity theft – India TV

Elon Musk’s Latest Changes to X, Formerly Twitter, Spark Parody Account Issue

After Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter, now known as X, the platform has undergone significant changes, including the introduction of a paid option for users to obtain verified blue check marks. While these changes were intended to enhance the platform, they have also led to a new problem – the rise of parody accounts impersonating real public figures.

Some parody accounts clearly indicate their nature in their usernames or descriptions, while others do not, causing confusion among users, including news reporters. To address this issue, experts have discovered that a label is in the works to help users easily identify parody or fan accounts. If implemented, these accounts would display a “Parody account” tag under their username on their profile and posts, helping differentiate them from the real accounts of public figures.

Furthermore, X has introduced a new job search feature, similar to LinkedIn’s offerings, following the success of last year’s Job Hiring feature for companies and recruiters. The job search tool, initially in a trial version, is now available to all users, making it easier to find job opportunities on the platform.

Additionally, X has a label for automated bot accounts, which post content automatically, but not all bots adhere to this labeling. Misleading bot accounts have been used to manipulate public opinion, particularly during elections, by spreading false information.

With these developments, X is striving to enhance user experience and address emerging issues on the platform.
