BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont Catamounts secured a narrow 68-64 victory against Northeastern in a thrilling matchup on December 3rd, showcasing key performances from players TJ Hurley and Ileri Ayo-Faleye.

Hurley led the charge with a career-high 23 points, hitting 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and making 8-of-9 free throw attempts. His explosive start fueled an 11-0 run for Vermont, allowing them to take a solid 12-point lead in the first half. The Catamounts dominated the first half, heading into the break with a 35-22 advantage, thanks to their accuracy from three-point range, shooting 54.5%.

The second half saw Northeastern rally back, narrowing Vermont’s lead to just seven points with under eight minutes remaining in the game. Key defensive plays from Ayo-Faleye, who set a career-high with seven blocks, were crucial in maintaining Vermont’s slim lead as he contributed 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Despite a late surge from Northeastern, who cut the deficit to just three points, the Catamounts held firm. Jace Roquemore solidified the win with a free throw just before the final buzzer.

Vermont outshot Northeastern 48.8% to 37.5% and dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Huskies 39 to 33.

Next, the Catamounts will host Brown on December 3rd at 7 p.m. in their annual Rally Around Mental Health game, broadcasted on ESPN+. The event emphasizes the importance of mental health awareness in the community.
